BEKA is a London-based artist sitting on a wealth of songwriting and performance talent. Her latest single, ‘More Than Friends’ is a cinematic, soulful electro-pop ballad. It starts out centred on wobbly keyboard chords and her addictive lead vocals, but for the chorus, we explode out into masterfully produced harmonies and thick textures. The male voice from the chorus and verse two comes from HONNE, a duo who has collaborated and toured with BEKA on multiple occasions. On the track, she explains: “More than Friends started after thinking back to being 18 and telling someone I’d made a mistake and wanted to be more than friends.
